Internships
To apply: Please send a descriptive cover letter with a polished resumé to Heather Young at hyoung@thedavisgrouptx.com. Interviews will be scheduled accordingly. We have internships available for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. Although the internship is unpaid, course credit may be earned at your university. The first day of the internship (on your scheduled days) will begin as soon as classes begin.
Each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester, we welcome interns who are current college undergraduate juniors or seniors - preferably Advertising majors who are specializing in Media - who wish to pursue a career in Media Planning or Buying upon graduation. We look for individuals who are detail-oriented, accurate in their work, accountable and reliable, have an understanding of basic "media math" skills, and who don't mind a challenge!
Completion of an "Introduction to Media" course is a must, and completion of an "Advanced Media Strategies" course or comparable equivalents are a plus. Interns should be available to work approximately 12 hours + per week (for 15 weeks: a total of 180 hours), and their schedules should allow those 12 + hours to be worked in large "blocks" of time to allow for a quality experience while they are in the office. Taking the internship for course credit is encouraged. (During the summer term, 15+ hours per week is expected over a term of 12 weeks.)
The media internship is an extensive introduction to "the real world" of media planning and buying at Austin's very first specialized media agency. Interns will act as assistants to full-time media planners/buyers and the President, helping with vendor relations, media research, flowcharts, preliminary planning, and schedule reconciliation. Though there are a few task-oriented projects, we prefer to assign projects that are educational and worthwhile. Interns will learn the media planning and buying software program used by 90% of the top U.S. agencies, as well as gain general planning and buying skills in every Texas market. Through research and correspondence with publications, radio stations, and television stations, they will learn about the media industry as a whole and have the opportunity to attend business meetings and media presentations when possible.
Internships are also available with Teleclip, Inc . Please contact Frank Rich at frich@teleclip.com for more information.
